I had an inquiry about my 4th doctor scarf on Etsy earlier today. The question was whether I could make it from a specific type of yarn and how much it would cost to do so. I mentioned for the sake of clarity that it would be crocheted and not knitted and then quoted a price (higher than my original because the yarn cost more and I would need more of it to make the scarf). The inquirer responded that the price was “very high for crocheted” and that they assumed from my original price that it was knitted. I responded (courteously) that I price it that high because it is very time consuming and hard on my hands and I don’t want to do it unless it is really worth my while. I can understand wanting it to be knitted - the original scarf WAS knitted, after all - but I feel a bit irked about that phrasing, “the price is very high for crocheted.” As if crochet is somehow inferior to knitting, as if it didn’t get tedious and hurt my hands to work on that scarf nearly every day for three months. A lot of effort and time went into that crocheted scarf. Again, I do understand wanting it knitted, because the original was knitted and they want a more true replica, and perhaps they didn’t mean to denigrate crochet, but darn it I feel just a bit insulted and peeved.
Thinking about MLP some more
This is something I've been pondering ever since Twilight became an alicorn. Given what we know in the context of the show, alicorns are either extremely long-lived or immortal. Which would seem to mean that Twilight is now also blessed (or cursed) with immortality. Which means that she now has to watch her non-alicorn friends and family grow old and eventually die. So there are several things I wonder - how will that affect her outlook in the future, and when her original five friends eventually kick off, what happens to the thrones in Twilight's castle? Does she get new friends to fill those slots? Not to mention that her non-alicorn brothe
It looks like a dog found us.
Yesterday a medium-haired black and white dog and a gray lab were poking around our yard - they were both very thin and the lab was limping and had been bitten. I gave them both some food and tried to get them to stick around but they wandered off. This morning, though, the black and white dog came back. Jason just left to take him to the vet. No sign of the gray lab, I fear he may not have made it. They both had collars so obviously they had been abandoned, which just pisses me right the hell off, especially since they were both totally beautiful dogs, despite being so thin and the lab being injured. People can be such moronic bastards.
Any
Because I'm a total weirdo.
Okay, so I've been thinking about My Little Pony and the character of Cheese Sandwich. Since Pinkie Pie's full name is Pinkamina Diane Pie, I figured Cheese should similarly be short for something else, and I've just figured out what it should be. His full name should be Čedomir Matthew Sandwich. Why? Because Čedomir sounds close to "cheddar" (CHE-do-meer), the name is slavic and Weird Al's ancestry is partly Yugoslavian, and Matthew is also Weird Al's middle name. Yep. That's my weirdo brain nugget for the day.
Wow.
I seriously did not think I would actually sell another giant bean bag Woola. But guess what, I did. Someone ordered one last night! Now I've had to order two more bags of bean bag pellets and I'll probably need another skein of Red Heart Buff Fleck. Woo!

They may not have meant it that way, though then again...the mention of thinking it was knitted based on the price almost suggests that they think of crochet as knitting light. Either way, I'd no doubt feel the same way you did, knowing I shouldn't feel insulted but in the end feeling so anyway. Bleh!
